Movie Review: The Perfect Match

The Perfect Match movie review
The Perfect Match is the kind of fluff "chick flick" you see when you don't have much else planned on a lazy or rainy day. It's an okay movie, but one you won't reflect on that much after the credits roll.

Charlie (Terrence J) is a player who doesn't "do" relationships, mostly sticking to one-night stands. Two of his friends are engaged and getting married soon, and the other two have been married for a while and are hoping for a baby - these two couples want Charlie to be in a relationship so he can have what they have. When Charlie meets Eva (Cassie Ventura), she tells him that she usually only does long-term relationships but is looking for something a little more fun, and he's definitely up for that; however, he later finds out that she's keeping a big secret from him.

I enjoyed the cast in this movie, even though the film itself was so-so. Terrence J stars as the main male character, and his friends include Donald Faison (Scrubs), who's married to Dascha Polanco (Orange is the New Black), as well as Kali Hawk. Paula Patton plays Terrence J's sister, too, and Joe Pantoliano has a small role as his boss. I've missed seeing Faison since his Scrubs days, and I like Polanco in OITNB, too, so it was a pleasant surprise to see both of them in this film.

Maybe see this movie. It's fine for date night or a night out with the girls, but ultimately it's another chick flick, with a kind of weird, yet interesting, twist at the end. Some of the jokes in the movie were great and some of them fell flat - probably about 50/50 - which is why I give this film a Maybe review. This movie should do well at the box office due to its great cast, but I definitely don't anticipate it being a blockbuster film by any means.

The Perfect Match
