Celebrate Rum and Fun at Bahama Breeze's Late-night Rumtoberfest!

 I am definitely no stranger to Bahama Breeze - I used to frequent the Livonia, MI location, and when I moved to Troy two years ago, I was thrilled to see that there's another location right down the street from me.

I was invited to its Rumtoberfest last year, which was a great time, and this year they've outdone themselves with even more great rum-inspired dishes and drinks.

Every Thursday in October, Bahama Breeze will hold a "RumThirsty" party, where you can win prizes, play games, and have some great food and drinks. This past week was the first edition of this. Drawings were held at 9pm and 10pm for those in the dining area, and I ended up winning a $50 gift card, woohoo! So I will definitely be back to Bahama Breeze sometime soon.

Even better, too: if you post a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #RumSweeps during a Rumtoberfest event, you're entered to win a trip to the Bahamas! One winner will be selected each week to win a vacation to the Super-Inclusive Breezes Resort & Spa.

My blogger friends and I started off with their new wings dish, rum and Coke wings. It came with a dipping sauce that definitely tasted like Coca-Cola, too. I also had a strawberry mojito, which was very good - I sometimes don't like mojitos if the mint flavor is too intense, but this one had crushed fresh strawberries in it, as well as Bacardi DragonFruit rum.


We also got to choose an entree, plus its new rum cake and another dessert. My favorite meal at Bahama Breeze used to be this chicken pita-type thing, before it was taken off the menu, and I would always order the mashed sweet potatoes with it, so I chose the wood-grilled chicken breasts with the same side (see above, right). 

We chose the Chocolate Island as our second dessert, as that's one of my favorite desserts at the restaurant. Both that and the rum cake were delicious! The rum cake is made with Bacardi Oakheart rum, and topped with raisin butterscotch sauce, as well as vanilla bean ice cream. SO yummy.

I'd definitely recommend Rumtoberfest as a "Girls Night Out" - I hadn't really seen Shannon nor Melissa since BlogHer '13, so it was great to have a mini BlogHer reunion!

Don't forget that Bahama Breeze does its "late night happy hour" from 9pm to closing on Thursdays too, so you can get some great half-off appetizers to go with your rum drinks, too. If you sign up for their email list, too, you often get some awesome coupons - I received a $10 off $30 one recently, although you can't use it with other promotions like the happy hour appetizers.
