After the Movie: Denny's

Me with the Denny's sign - Novi, MI
*Disclosure: I received a gift card to facilitate this post. The opinions expressed here, however, are my own.

When I attended BlogHer this summer, I stayed at the Sheraton, which was the host hotel, and we received "room drops," little gifts that were sitting on our beds when we returned "home" after a busy day. In one of the room drops, I received a Denny's gift card, and when Denny's contacted me to see if I wanted an additional gift card to try out their restaurant, I said yes.

Before this time, the last time I went to a Denny's was about four years ago, in Ann Arbor. I think I got a breakfast meal and it didn't really agree with me; it was too greasy and buttery.

Denny's has changed a lot since then, however, and its menu has a ton of choices, including "Fit Fare" - meals that are both healthy for you and low in calories - and even a reduced-price 55+ menu for seniors.

I ordered the make-your-own Grand Slam with turkey bacon (my favorite, and sometimes hard to find!), two buttermilk pancakes, ham, and toast. I have a love for restaurant toast - it always comes out perfect and buttery - so of course I had to include that in my Grand Slam.

Left: my Grand Slam breakfast (for lunch; toast not pictured)
Middle: banana pancakes, chicken sausage, eggs, hash browns
Right: omelette, hash browns, sourdough toast
The whole meal was rather delicious and also the portions were big - I wasn't able to finish my pancakes. My family ordered the other two meals in the picture above, and agreed that the food was good.

Pancakes, anyone?
We also went to Denny's on Labor Day, and was surprised by the friendly waitstaff - even though it was a holiday, our waitress was very pleasant and efficient, and was able to suggest menu items we might like, as well.

I would definitely try out Denny's again, and the best part is that it's open 24/7: you can get breakfast before or even after a movie. The Denny's in Novi, MI is about a five-minute drive from the Emagine Novi, as well, and would be a tasty treat after seeing a film there.

Denny's has more than just breakfast, too - it has sandwiches and even meals like BBQ chicken breasts (part of the Fit Fare menu), and also appetizers and desserts that looked pretty good as well. You can see its full menu on its website.

Stay tuned to Yes/No Films for more Denny's posts, including a gift card contest later this year!
